Greg is best known for depictions of the Australian landscape. Over 20 of his solo exhibitions and most of his editions of limited edition prints have focused on variations of landscape painting. Themes have included coastal, outback and alpine national parks and the recording of Aboriginal rock art and sacred sites. Greg also held a successful exhibition of still-life paintings as well as a series of works inspired by fossils. On occasions Greg has painted portraits most notably for an exhibition of well-known Melbourne identities.

Many personal and work-related field trips explored remote locations by light plane and helicopter. This (in conjunction with Greg’s research on satellite photography) has resulted in a unique perspective on the geographical features of the land.
In 2010 Greg recommenced painting. His absence from a busy exhibition schedule (while in full time arts management jobs) gave him the opportunity to slowly collate thousands of photographs, aerial maps and drawings. He also continued to document Australia via air during his many work-related flights to remote Indigenous communities. In addition, Greg began revisiting many locations he had painted in the past by websites such as Google Earth. This rediscovery of a different view and perspective of the landscape has produced works rich in detail and texture.
